Dr McGregor travelled to Mongolia in 2014 and Brazil in 2015 with the charity, Hernia International.

Surgeons travel to countries all over the globe to provide surgery to those who would otherwise be unable to afford or access this care.

While a common problem in our society, hernia are particularly large and complex in countries where manual labour is a fact of life.

In Africa alone it is estimated that over 6 million people have untreated hernias and over 100,000 die every year from complications associated with the hernia such as strangulation of the bowel.

Dr McGregor finds it a great honour to be able to work with wonderful surgeons from all around the world helping the poor. These trips are the highlight of his working year.
